What is the best way to transit the Yucultas through Whirlpool Rapids?

At 7 knots you are best off making it a two day voyage. Leave Big Bay before the turn of the tide and preferably on a small tidal change. Continue through the Dent Rapids and along Cordero Channel to Shoal Bay or to Blind Channel and remain through the tidal exchange or overnight until approaching the next slack tide. Then continue down Cordero to Chancellor Channel and up Wellbore Channel through the Whirlpool Rapids and on down Sunderland Channel. If the weather forecast for Johnstone Strait calls for adverse conditions stay at Forward Harbour until you get a favourable break in conditions. You could break this into a three day excursion if time permits. If you feel uncertain about your timing watch what other boats of similar speed capability are doing and go through the rapids with them.
